The small and beautiful waterfall with the romantic name Girl`s Tears is located in a picturesque place on the Zhonka River. This river is one of the tributaries of the Prut River. Old legends keep a sad memory about beautiful mountain girls who cried. It is said their tears magically turned into rivers and waterfalls. These streams created obstacles for evil people and saved their loved ones and native lands from enemies and invaders.
The route follows a forest road which is surrounded with beech and spruce forests. In winter, the forest is covered with fluffy snow. During hot summer days, visitors can enjoy the freshness from the waterfall. An autumn walk will fill you with sweet memories of colorful autumn hews.
There are picnic areas to visit along the way for a short rest or picnic.
Girl’s Tears Waterfall is really tiny. Its height is only 1,7 m, and the water falls down in two streams, 2 m wide. In summer, everyone can plunge into cool mountain water in the nice shallow pool of water formed just below the waterfall. In winter, the waterfall freezes.
Rock outcrops close to the waterfall give pleasure to visitor’s eye. In the upper part of the rock among the stones, a spruce grows.
