Ukrainian Carpathians is a part of the Eastern Carpathians (which are divided into external and internal Eastern Carpathians) in western Ukraine.
Their length from the headwaters of the Syan to the origins of Suceava is 280 km, width - over 110 km. They occupy the territory of Zakarpatska (Transcarpathian) oblast, partly Lvivska, Ivano-Frankivska and Chernivetska oblasts. The area totals over 24 thousand km². Mountain ranges, which are separated by longitudinal depressions and deep transverse valleys, are stretching mainly from northwest to southeast.
